# Haifa, Acre & Rosh Hanikra Grottos – Cruise Shore Shared Tour

Haifa is the third‑largest city in Israel, with about 295,000 inhabitants. Its history begins with Tel Shikmona around 1700 B.C., and although Haifa is mentioned in the Talmud, it became truly important with the construction of the modern port in the 20th century by Great Britain. It is the capital of the Israeli north and the world center for Bahai religion. 
Acre (Akko) also has at least 4,000 years of history, but during our tour we’ll focus on its time as the capital of the Second Crusader Kingdom — and the last Crusader stronghold to fall to the Muslims. After its fall, Crusader rule in the Holy Land came to an end. All major Crusader orders — the Hospitallers, Templars, Teutonic Knights, and others — were based in Acre. They were rivals, often clashing even while facing a greater enemy at the gates.

At Rosh Hanikra, we’ll visit a breathtaking natural site where white cliffs meet the deep blue sea. Over time, the water has carved out a series of sea grottos, which we’ll reach by cable car — the steepest in the world and the last Crusader stronghold to fall to the Muslims. After that event, Crusader rule in the Holy Land ended. All the major Crusader orders — Hospitallers, Templars, Teutonic Knights, etc. — were based in Acre. They were rivals, and it was a history of conflict and war when their most powerful enemy stood at the gates — the Muslims. So it is part of the history of the Holy Land, Europe, and the world. - Upper Haifa and Galilee Viewpoint — Panoramic view of the city and port from the upper promenade on Mount Carmel.
- German Colony and lower Bahai gardens, Haifa — The historical German quarter in Haifa, established in 1869 by German Templers. Learn about the history of modern European German settlement in the Holy Land.
- Akko (Acre) Old Town — An ancient city dating back over 3,000 years, with a focus on its medieval Crusader history. Explore Napoleon's siege of Acre in 1799, the city walls, narrow streets, caravanserais (khans), and oriental bazaar. Optional museum visits available at additional ticket cost.
- Rosh Hanikra Grottos — National park located right on the border with Lebanon. A natural wonder of white chalk cliffs and deep blue sea. Over thousands of years, waves carved grottoes where the sea and rock meet dramatically. Spectacular phenomena of nature. Admission is about 15 dollar.
